How it works

How does an AI search audit work?

Three steps: audit how ready your site is for AI tools, fix what the audit found, then re-test with the same audit.

The loop

Audit, Fix plan, Re-test. Each re-test is logged so you can see exactly what changed.

  • The same checks, the same inputs, every recheck
  • Verified fixed, still open or not rechecked: named, never blended into a score
  • Nothing published without your sign-off

What happens, in order

01Now

Audit

We audit your site across nine areas: crawl and indexing, on-page, content, links, structured data, AI search readiness, performance, security and search visibility. Areas we couldn’t measure are marked “not assessed”, never estimated. Page 1 is a decision block: the verdict and three moves, each tied to evidence.

A checklist card covering AI crawler access, structured data, consistent business details, profile coverage, review signals and answer-ready pages, with pass and needs-work states.

Fix plan

We do the work for you, prioritized by impact and effort: technical readiness (AI crawler access, structured data, indexability), answer-ready pages on your site, and the outside profiles AI tools draw on, including review hygiene, never incentivized reviews. Nothing is published without your sign-off.

03Now

Re-test

We re-test each promised fix under the same inputs. A fix is called “verified” only when that re-test passes; otherwise it’s “still open” or “not rechecked”, named as such. Monthly rechecks with the Retainer are Coming.

Definitions for prompt measurement

What a mention and a citation mean

These two marks will be the backbone of prompt measurement when it ships as part of the Retainer. They’re deliberately simple.

Mention

The tool names you

Your business is named in the answer text, for example, “Example Ledger Co. is often shortlisted by small businesses in [Local area].” A mention means you’re in the conversation, whether or not a source is linked.

Citation

The tool points to you

One of your pages or profiles is referenced as a source for the answer. A citation means the tool treated your content as evidence, the strongest signal that your pages are answer-ready.

Illustrative example

“Small businesses in [Local area] often shortlist Example Ledger Co.” would count as a mention. When the same answer lists exampleledger.example, services page as a source, that’s a citation.

Example Ledger Co. and its domain are fictional and used for illustration only.

Straight up

The honest limits, up front

We’d rather tell you what we can’t do than oversell what we can.

An honest limit worth knowing
AI tools are run by third parties and change often. No one can guarantee what an AI tool will say. We check, report honestly and show the evidence.

We can’t promise outcomes

No one controls what an AI tool says. We audit, fix and re-test, and report the results either way.

We won’t fudge the ruler

The same checks run under the same inputs. If a fix doesn’t pass its recheck, you’ll see “still open”, not a different chart.

We’ll tell you to walk away

If your free check or AI Visibility Audit shows AI visibility isn’t worth pursuing for you right now, that’s what we’ll say.

Questions

Process questions

A fix is verified only when we re-test it under the same inputs as the original check and it passes. If we couldn’t recheck it, or the inputs changed, the report says “not rechecked” rather than claiming it.

Not yet. Prompt measurement is Coming, as part of the Retainer. Today’s audit marks prompt measurement “not measured”.

They do vary, which is why the planned method uses a fixed, versioned prompt list, logged-out runs and patterns across repeated runs rather than single answers, always with the denominator shown.

Not for the audit. For a Sprint, we need access so we can make the fixes ourselves. Nothing is published without your sign-off.

The free check is a short review of your site that we talk you through. The AI Visibility Audit follows with the full picture, then a Sprint re-test confirms the fixes. We won’t promise a timeline for AI tools to change what they say. We’ll show you the evidence as it is.
